Bad Love share alt.pop banger Cashmere Tears!

Manchester based three-piece, Bad Love, return with their latest single, Cashmere Tears.

The self-styled ’Sad-Boy Pop’ band have cultivated a sophisticated alt.pop sound. Following in the footsteps tread by artists such as LANY and MUNA, Bad Love have interweaved contemporary anthemic pop segments with the nuanced, emotive songwriting of new wave bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode.

Cashmere Tears brings all these elements together as Bad Love continue to explore a sophisticated synth-pop sound characterised by mesmerising hooks and tender socially conscious lyricism. Cashmere Tears is a story of watching someone who used to dream big, but is destined to repeat the same mistakes in life, as they are continuously drawn back to a toxic relationship. The song also takes aim at flaws within society, contesting the antiquated notion that women are supposed to be peacekeepers for A-typical masculinity.

Consisting of frontman, songwriter and producer Andy GannonTommy O'Neill and Ben TanseyCashmere Tears follows recent single A Place For Me which gained the attention of musical tastemakers such as Clash MagazineVariance MagazineCloutIndie Is Not A GenreLA On LockTalk About Pop Music and many, many more. With a plethora of singles planned for 2021, and having recently signed to the AWAL+ platform, Bad Love are aiming to finish 2020 on a high.

DD Darillo deliver a psychedelic masterclass on debut single Time Will Tell!

DD.jpg

DD Darillothe musical brainchild of Boy Azooga member Dylan Morgan, have shared their debut single, Time Will Tell.

The track has already been well received with Huw Stephens BBC Introducing show debuting the single and God Is In The TV premiering the Tim and Eric style psychedelic video.

Raised in the acid soaked foothills of the Cambrian Mountains and inspired in part by the tales of the 70s rock icons who pilgrimed there for inspiration, DD Darillo's music is some-what infused with the sounds of these ghosts past. Tipping its hat to the progressive, soulful and psychedelic, DD Darillo seamlessly meld retro and modern influences with aplomb, from the likes of Dungen and Pond, to SupertrampSteely Dan and Squeeze.

A song about not feeling at home anywhere, Time Will Tell explores the desolate solitude of growing up in the outback of the Welsh hills. Such is the geographical remoteness - there’s even an absence of a ‘welcome to…’ sign in the vicinity - Time Will Tell is a biographical tale of having to pretend where you are from, enabling Dylan to probe the Welsh notion of 'Hiraeth', or ‘the feeling of longing for a home that never was’. As Dylan sings the line “Aberystwyth was my home or was it Tregaron?”, he questions the very notion of belonging, before realising that time itself decides where you feel you belong, hence the title Time Will Tell. A chiming, fuzz-filled banger, scattered with soulful harmonies and uplifting beats, Time Will Tell is the perfect introduction to DD Darillo as they showcase a mirage of genres spanning neo-prog, new-wave pop and college rock.

AC.jpg

Bristol-based duo, The Actions, have unveiled single Leap, a track taken from forthcoming  album, Flourish

Recorded at the legendary Invada Studios with Stu Matthews (PortisheadBeak>Quakers), Leap is a perfect showcase of what to expect on album as The Actions set the scene with moody, guttural soundscapes and samples, and juxtapose them with dream-like vocals.

Flourish explores themes of fear, anxiety, escapism and change. The record encapsulates a moment in time; the moment you overcome your fears, take a deep breath and embrace the unknown of a new you, leaving your old self behind. Flourish is about letting go, finding your way forward. Flourish is about rebirth.

Having met as kids, Marta Argenio aka Silty (vocals, bass) and Mo Stellato (guitar, electronics) performed together in a number of bands and soon started to make inroads in London. Benefitting from a shared musical path, the pair formed The Actions with the intention of creating dark, cinematic slices of music. Evocative and transcendent, forthcoming album Flourish offers the grandiose orchestral sensibilities of Vangelis and blends this with the grooves and dense atmospherics produced by artists such as latest Low and Portishead.

Their enduring sound has seen them pick up press support from the likes of Clash Magazine and Nothing But Hope And Passion, as well as airplay from BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom RobinsonAmazing Radio’s Simon Raymonde and John Kennedy of Radio X.

Leap is out now and available to stream on Soundcloud and Bandcamp. Album Flourish is out on 15th February 2021 via Niteo Records.
