Brendon releases the folk-rock inspired single The Hats!

Singer songwriter Brendon Dunning, aka Brendon, is delighted to announce the release of his brand new single, The Hats.

A renowned folk-rock artist in the 70’s, Brendon gained recognition after releasing a number of tracks via UK Records. However, it was in 1977 when Brendon would make an indelible impact upon the wider public through the release of hit single ‘Gimme Some’; a cover of the track recorded by Jimmy '“Bo” Horne the previous year. A departure from his folk-rock roots, ‘Gimme Some’ strayed into disco territory and, with the release of one single, Brendon was typecast within a genre he had no real creative affiliation with before or after.

Over forty years on Brendon has returned to his first love of folk rock. Working with producer and multi-instrumentalist Forbes Coleman, the duo have concocted a mellow, earnest single packed with reflective, personal lyrical content. Building throughout the five minutes, The Hats is the perfect example of Brendon’s ability to create earthy yet rousing music, while simultaneously showcasing his emotive, poignant vocal range.

Alt-punk outfit I am HER release Big Monster!

Alt-punk outfit I am HER kick start 2020 with a punch as they release their angst-driven new single Big Monsterout now.

Opening with a simple yet driven force, front woman Julie Riley’s grit-fuelled vocals are able to soar. As the chorus arrives, so does the sparkling punk energy as fuzz-filled guitars are played with a seething passion reminiscent of the likes of The Kills or Hole. This is the first time I am HER have used an electric guitar and pedal on their record, giving a fresh take on the band’s distinctively raw sound. Talking about the single, Julie explains, “this song was triggered by someone telling me their experience of an anxiety attack. It got me thinking how anxiety/stress is like a beast separate to us that stalks us and preys on us.”

Her most inventive and ambitious release to date, WHITE FIRE showcases Katrin’s unique ability to create boundlessly immersive soundscapes that are undeniably striking throughout. Talking about the Splendour video, Katrin explains, "it depicts the devotion, love, sacredness and struggle between humans and the forces that drive us apart or towards each other. It's a look inside a person's soul, profanity and sacredness, chaos and harmony, success and failure, human and divine, feminine and masculine. In the end, it ́s all one. Directed by Adrian Künzel, the video mainly features the strikingly powerful performances of Li Kehua and Motoya Kondo.

To celebrate the release of their new EP Love Thy Neighbour, Approachable Members Of Your Local Community have now shared the hilarious new video for their latest single Small Change.

Captured by director Nick Campbell in the band’s home suburb of St Kilda, the video goes to the heart of the Approachable identity. “It’s where we grew up, it’s iconic and it’s gorgeous - but gentrification and rapid development are changing the neighbourhood and have displaced many of the very people who gave St Kilda its character. Small Change is a call to action - it’s about empathy - for place, for community and for environment." says Micky Fisher (bassist). "We were blown away with the support from local community organisations and businesses to help bring this clip together, which we think captures much of St Kilda’s spirit, confidence and life - and it’s hope for a better tomorrow.”

Love Thy Neighbour is all about the celebration of community. The EP came from the band’s reflections about growing up, seeing their neighbourhoods change and gentrify and the internet become a more crazy and even a frightening place. The band elaborate, "It doesn’t take a genius to point out that there is some serious social division and hardship across the world right now. The Community is facing a whole series of challenges that aren’t easy, and aren’t disappearing anytime soon. Love Thy Neighbour is a call for positivity and hope, which Small Change talks directly to. In traditional Approachable style, we’ve consulted our local Rabbi and summoned our biblical roots in naming this release Love Thy Neighbour. It’s about empathy – to people, to places and the environment.”
