French post-punk band Versari announce UK release of their abrasive new album Sous la Peau!

French post-punk three-piece Versari are delighted to announce the UK release of their emotive third album, Sous la Peau, out on 16th November 2020 via Good Deeds.

Formed in 2003, Versari have concocted a sound that combines the jagged, abrasive edges of post-punk and post-hardcore with a thoughtful, literary vision. Having released their previous album in 2003, the Adrian Utley (Portishead) produced Ostinato, Versari have continued to evolve as a band. Sous la Peau is characterised by discordant, fuzz-filled guitar notes, scuzzy, driven bass lines and the seductive, atmospheric vocals of Jean-Charles Versari (vocals/guitar).

From the confrontational soundscapes of opener ‘Des Images’, unapologetically in your face, Versari set the scene for what is to come. Forthcoming single Brûle will be accompanied by a video release in November, and perfectly encapsulates the nuances Versari has to offer as a band. A grooving, Joe Lally (Fugazi) style bass line fills the air with menace, ambient guitar notes echoing in the distance, as Jean-Charles’ cerebral, personal lyrics fill the air. The pace quickness on the screeching ’Tu Te Disais’, while the angular ‘Rose’ offers a grimy intermission. As the record comes to a close, ’Némésis’, much like Versari, provides an uncompromising, energetic edge to proceedings, neatly leading into final track ‘Plus de Tristesse’. A fitting, melancholic end to a complex, passionate record.

Melissa Bel gets profoundly cutting on Sunshine!

NatasaLeoni_Melissa-0269.jpg

Singer-songwriter Melissa Bel returns with the release of her blues-infused balled, Sunshine, out now.

Sunshine is Melissa Bel as you’ve never heard her before. In this profoundly cutting ballad, Melissa breaks down experiences of disappointment and resignation with a despondent maturity and timeless, unplaceable sound. Combining country, blues and soul-tinged sensibilities, Melissa creates a sound that is totally her own and oozing with powerful emotion. Sunshine was co-written by Kris Bergsnes (Tim McGrawWynonna Judd) and produced by Joseph Cross (Lana Del ReyLa Roux).

Talking about the single, Melissa explains, "I wrote this song on my first - and so far only - trip to Nashville. I’d had that opening melody floating around in my head and when I sang it Kris and I knew we were going to write something soulful and sad, all about feel, less about hooks or structure. From there we ended up painting this picture of what it feels like to be let down by someone you really had high hopes for. Someone who had promised you better.”

Nuala releases bold, genre-defying EP Me & Me!

N.jpg

Off the back of two stellar summer singles and a plethora of press support, Nuala is delighted to announce the release of her EP Me & Me.

Set free and unbound by genre, Nuala’s versatility as an artist is her true strength. From the upbeat, yet lyrically pointed, opening single Split Down The Middle to the politically charged ode to power-hungry, obnoxious men polluting the world on Cry F**king Loud, Nuala has impressively illustrated her chameleonic talents, her powerful vocal and a witty world view.

Me & Me is the perfect illustration of Nuala’s multifaceted approach to music as she playfully injects a hint of pop on ‘Had Enough’, and a smattering of singer songwriter on ‘Away’, while hints of ska pepper the EP throughout. Me & Me is a bold, mature record that highlights Nuala’s potential as an artist both in the here and now and the not-too-distant future.

Having began writing songs at the tender age of ten years old Nuala has continued to develop her flair for music by playing a number of gigs and festivals over the years. This had led to recognition in the music industry having gained support from the likes of Steve LamacqBBC Radio LondonBBC Radio Leicester, the Evening StandardGet In Her EarsFame MagazineThe Vinyl District, Clout MagazineM-Magazine (PRS for Music) and many more. Conscious hip-hop artist MC Salum has shared his vibrant new single Kaiba, out now via Lazy Tree Records.

Combining Guy Galactic’s crisp production style with LB Myles’ woozy electronic beats, Kaiba feels instantly reminiscent of the likes of Mount Kimbie or Flying Lotus. Rapper Mike Vincent Colville once again showcases his dynamically boisterous energy throughout, whilst guest vocalist Kolibri (Magnum Haus/Model Aeroplanes) creates stunning R&B-infused soundscapes on the chorus. Talking about the single Mike elaborates, “Kaiba captures the anticipation of a big occasion. The enigmatic howling which weaves through out the song provides the same sparkle and mystery of a night to remember. It plays like a flurry of melodic jabs, each verse a round of newfangled punch lines and silky flows. The chorus slaps you in the face to let you know that you have arrived, time to celebrate.”

Emerging indie-rock quartet Little Suspicions have released their symphonic debut single Wasting All My Time, out now.

Reminiscent of the likes of The Last Shadow Puppets, Little Suspicions combine sweeping guitars with euphoric melodies and tranquil harmonies in order to create a sound that is undeniably charming. Lead singer Moritz Meyes’ distinctively colloquial vocal style compliments the poignant lyricism effortlessly, channeling the likes of Alex Turner and Scott Walker as a result. Talking about the single, the band elaborate, “it's about trying to pursue people who led you on, so you hang onto their every word and wait around for them. You think it’s a goer but they just parr you off and you’re basically just an ego boost.”
