PELOWSKA

“...a retro synth groove with soaring vocals…” - The Scotsman

“Catchy, thrilling and driving.” - Discovery Music Scotland

“Truly a masterpiece.” - BBC Introducing Scotland

Edinburgh-based duo PELOWSKA return with the release of their powerful new single Deep Water, out 7th August 2025.

Known for their retro-synths, dark, brooding soundscapes and evocative lyricism, Deep Water is no exception. Channelling the likes of Portishead and Massive Attack, the duo combine trip-hop with powerful vocals and cutting edge visuals in order to create something undeniably formidable. Talking about the single, vocalist and producer Aneshka Pelowska says, “Deep Water tells the story of the time I almost drowned in a lake in Croatia whilst on holiday with my family as a teenager. I was swimming across the lake when my body gave up completely, all my strength disappeared. I tried to scream for help but no one could hear me. I started to sink, fully convinced I was going to die. Then, out of nowhere, something surged through me; a force I can only describe as supernatural and I somehow managed to swim to safety. When renowned Croatian composer Marko Tomasovic reached out to collaborate on a song, that moment came rushing back. It felt like the perfect story to finally give voice to”. The music video for the song was brought to life by Simon Hay, the visionary director behind Callum Beattie’s Something in My Eye, showcasing a bold, confident new chapter for the band.

Aneshka (vocals/synths) and Dave Tynan (bass/guitar) had admired each other's separate musical journeys in other bands for years. When Aneshka moved from Poland, she immersed herself in open-mic nights and sang for a variety of local bands. When an unfortunate accident with a glass of wine destroyed a laptop with several months’ worth of compositions on it, she turned to fellow musician Dave to help her get back on track. Now, the duo write songs that speak about mental health, with resilience running through everything they do. Aneshka is also part of the 3.5% of female music producers in a male-dominated space, and an immigrant who started a band with no school friends, no scene connections, nothing handed over, just the music and a drive to create something real.

The duo have previously received praise from the likes of The Scotsman, The Herald, God Is in The TV, BBC Introducing Scotland and Amazing Radio to name a few. Despite boasting only a handful of songs, the duo has amassed nearly 85000 streams on Spotify and garnered tens of thousands of views on YouTube for their music videos.

You can catch PELOWSKA live next on 30th August 2025 at Raise Up Festival in Newcastle.
