Nick Wilson continues to mesmerise with his latest slice of celestial alt-pop. Get Up is out now via AWAL (Kobalt).
Interweaving ethereal soundscapes with Wilson’s powerful falsetto, Get Up is a shimmering summer anthem from the offset, sounding akin to that of Kevin Garratt or Aquilo. It is inspired by the frustration of knowing someone could help themselves out of a bad situation and flows with twinkling melodies and glitchy electronic beats throughout. Of the track, Wilson expands: “I guess it acts as an inspirational kick up the back side. It’s so easy to dwell and stay stuck in a feeling of helplessness, but it’s almost always easier than you think to dig yourself out of that hole, you just have to try.”
Having released and self-produced music for the past six years, Nick Wilson has already received acclaim from BBC Introducing, Clash and The Line Of Best Fit to name but a few, as well as supporting the likes of Gabrielle Aplin and Martin Luke Brown. Now, with over 400,000 Spotify monthly listeners, Wilson looks set to soundtrack the summer with this infectious new single Get Up (written with Alkemi and produced by Brad Mair).
