What Would Jesus Drive 4/5 in Punk Rock Ist Nicht Tot!

What Would Jesus Drive have been given a great review from online music website Punk Rock Ist Nicht Tot, receiving 4/5 for the forthcoming EP!

"A spiky, angular, electro punk number, musically it’s slightly reminiscent of the Knack’s ‘My Sharona’. Lyrically it’s witty and entertaining in a ‘it’s funny because it’s true’ observational humour kind of way..." - Punk Rock Ist Nicht Tot

You can read the review in full HERE.

The EP will be available on October 4th, and is released through the brilliant EyeSeeSound.

EyeSeeSound: DVD EPs heralding the underground!

EyeSeeSound is the vision, passion and brainchild of Julian Bowman and Simon Matthews. When they both tired of the generic, homogenised music being fed to them by the media the pair took it upon themselves to offer a platform that championed the unsung heroes of the underground.

As a natural progression from the Live Sessions on their website, EyeSeeSound have created an exciting new musical format in their DVD EPs, with each beautifully packaged and designed as a singular piece of art reflecting the band and the music. They have made these DVD EPs as affordable as possible at £5 and on a 50/50 profit share with the bands. EyeSeeSound front all costs themselves and do not charge for their time. It is about the music and the art, rather than the money.

The content is generous with those who purchase able to view a five-song live session, own the mp3s of this session, see interview footage, and in this case also feature three music videos as bonus material.

Ex Libras The EyeSeeSound Session is the first of these DVD EPs (out this week!) heralding quality affordable music from the underground. Being the generous lot they are, EyeSeeSound have made one song from Ex Libras' DVD EP - Sum Numbers - available to watch on YouTube. If you can't see these videos below, just click HERE.

Download the Ex Libras DVD EP pack HERE. The DVD EP pack includes a press release, jpeg of the DVD EP cover and a free MP3 of "Radar (live)".

Ex Libras DVD EP release!

It was always inevitable that Ex Libras would catch the attention of EyeSeeSound, who grabbed the chance to work with the boys to record one of their Live DVD EPs. Both EyeSeeSound and Ex Libras share the same sensibilities - to create and promote independent music for all.

As a natural progression from the Live Sessions on their website, EyeSeeSound have created an exciting new musical format in their DVD EPs, with each beautifully packaged and designed as a singular piece of art reflecting the band and their music.

Ex Libras The EyeSeeSound Session is available to buy from the EyeSeeSound website.

A sampler from the DVD EP can be viewed HERE.

Ex Libras release Cut(s)

Take one part "loop" add one part "acoustic" and mix gently. Crumble Suite(s), sprinkle a touch of "samples", "percussion" and spoonful of "Cello". Place headphones on ears, press play. Enjoy.

Cut(s) approaches the songs from Ex Libras' critically acclaimed debut album Suite(s), from a different, fresh new angle. The band have taken the bare parts from five of the songs on their aforementioned debut album (in order: "Underachiever", "Sum Numbers", "Discharge", "Phat Knickers" and "Radar") and reshaped, remoulded, remixed and reinvented them into their own version of what an acoustic EP should be the only way Ex Libras could - thus creating a new genre for the EP - loopcoustica. The title tracks of the songs on Cut(s) are lyrics found on each of the aforementioned songs on Suite(s).

Much like Suite(s) the EP is another DIY affair; everything from the beats, the vocals and the percussion was recorded at the much talked about infamous Shed - Ex Libras manmade recording studio and rehearsal space.

"...[Suite(s)] weaves its intoxicating post-rock spell with an unpredictable, addictive flourish." - Classic Rock Prog, review of Suite(s)

"...an album that's all about building then shattering tension..." Rock Sound, review of Suite(s)

Pushing themselves into quieter territories, Ex Libras' Amit Sharma (vox, guitar), Ross Kenning (drums) and Kieran Nagi (keys) nevertheless prove they have the capacity to venture into sonic extremes. On Cut(s) they ditch the climatic noise build-ups for a calmer and subtle cinematic tension. The EP as a whole is beautifully intricate and atmospheric, best listened to on (large) headphones to maximize your Ex Libras listening pleasure. Guest instrumentalist on the EP is cellist Ruth Campbell (Ariel's Up), who the boys met whilst on their Northern UK tour. Ruth perfectly compliments the sound and feel of the EP.

The free single leading the release will be Teenage Eyes, set for release on 23rd August 2010. Cut(s) is released digitally on 6th September 2010.

Download "Teenage Eyes" from Cut(s) HERE.

Downoad "Radar" from Suite(s) HERE.

EyeSeeSound DVD EP release: Ex Libras

EyeSeeSound

EyeSeeSound: "The music industry is dead. Long live music!"

EyeSeeSound is the vision, passion and brainchild of Julian Bowman and Simon Matthews. When they both tired of the generic, homogenised music being fed to them by the media the pair took it upon themselves to offer a platform that championed the unsung heroes of the underground.

With this in mind, Jules and Simon began to develop and create a web TV show heavily slanted towards the independent music scene. Including short film and animation, The Show is ethically and socially aware, veering away from the traditional presenting style of studio links and interviews to an irreverent anti-presenter style. This was to become the flagship element of EyeSeeSound. In addition to The Show, EyeSeeSound's website also offers other outlets for bands and music bands like ESS' Live Sessions and Mix Tapes.

Now, in conjunction with Sound Director Peter Radcliff the Live Sessions have developed from being a website only format into a physical product that fans of the site were essentially asking for. Therefore from July 2010, EyeSeeSound will be releasing 5-track “DVD EPs” thus creating a new and exciting music format.

Each DVD EP is beautifully packaged and designed as a singular piece of art reflecting the band and their music. They have made these DVD EPs as affordable as possible at £5 and on a 50/50 profit share with the bands. EyeSeeSound front all costs themselves and do not charge for their time. It is about the music and the art, rather than the money. The content is generous with those who purchase able to view a five-song live session, own the mp3s of this session, see interview footage, and in most cases feature music videos and studio mp3s as bonus material.

It is the belief of EyeSeeSound that a new dynamic is infiltrating the music business, a new paradigm of music consumption is being born, and the realm of independent and DIY music culture will no longer remain an underground sub class, but is a very possible and viable future for the production and consumption of music.

EyeSeeSound DVD EP release:

Ex Libras: The EyeSeeSound Session

Ex Libras are a band that need no introduction. Having impressed the press and music fans alike with their debut single, Radar, and album, Suite(s), the band went on to release a second single from the album, Underachiever, whilst completing a UK and European tour. Their album caught the attention of publications such as Clash Magazine, Rock Sound Magazine, Classic Rock Prog, whilst their singles received plays on stations like BBC6 Music and XFM.

It's no wonder then that they caught the attention of EyeSeeSound, who grabbed the chance to work with the boys to record one of their Live DVD EPs. Both EyeSeeSound and Ex Libras share the same sensibilities – to create and promote independent music for all.

This release includes storming live interpretations of 4 tracks taken from their debut album, as well as one new and previously unreleased song, "Magical Mervyn", which is an integral part of their live set. The style of the edit and grading also takes the visuals away from traditional live performance footage to create an artistic and beautiful 30-minute live performance.
