ABoF’s May Releases!

Posted Wed, 04 May 2011
We're almost halfway through 2011, and the summer is so close you could almost taste it. Meanwhile, at ABoF HQ, we've been preparing for another month jam packed full of releases.
We've got a really great selection for you this May, with everything from dark and atmospheric electro-rock, to punk soaked indie rock.
Check out our list of releases below for the full run down.

Architects Of Grace - Moments In Time

Moments In Time is the debut album from Architects Of Grace. Written and recorded largely by Duncan Robert Illing, it demonstrates strength and substance, a soundtrack to a rollercoaster of experiences.

Having already drawn comparison to musical pioneers David Bowie and Trent Reznor, the digital release of the album has seen Duncan interviewed by Bass Guitar Magazine, was hailed as "...an exercise in unbridled eclecticism" by Rock Sound Magazine and album track "Oceans Of The Heart" picked as Classic Rock Magazine (online)'s track of the day.
The video for single Reflection has also been featured on This Is Fake DIY, Clash Music and Artrocker Magazine (online).

The world is sure to take notice when Procession Recordings release Moments In Time physically on May 30th.

If you can't see the waveform for album track "Oceans Of The Heart" below, check it out on the Architects Of Grace SoundCloud page, where you can also download it for free.

Gunning For Tamar - Deaf Cow Motel

It's clear that Gunning For Tamar are an extremely focused band, having spent 2010 learning to read each other like it's second nature, as the sound they have created leaves no room for complacency.
Deaf Cow Motel is an ambitious EP that really pays off, showing that this four piece are more than comfortable crossing boundaries and defying the listener's expectations. This has, in no small part, been instrumental in attracting the attention of NME.com and seen them featured on the BBC Introducing in Oxford radio show.

The EP is released via Walnut Tree Records on CD and MP3 May 30th.

If you can't see the waveform for EP track "German Treasure Island" below, listen to it on the ABoF SoundCloud page. where you can also download it for free.

Wayter - Feeding Time

After working their fans into a frenzy with the release of singles Cheese Sandwich and Twenty, internationally diverse noisemakers, Wayter, are now ready to release their debut album - Feeding Time. Having already been featured in Classic Rock (Track of the Day for “Cheese Sandwich”) and Ian Camfield's XFM Rock Show, as well as being played by XFM's John Kennedy, the band are excited to see just how high they can fly with their first LP.

Feeding Time is released via Naked Tree Recordings on May 30th.

If you can't see the waveform for album track and single Twenty below, check it out on the ABoF SoundCloud page, where you can also download it for free.

What Would Jesus Drive - Black And Blue

Black and Blue, the debut album from What Would Jesus Drive, opens with a shriek of sirens, which sets the tone for what's to come. The album is a spectacular punch in the face, each track driven by raw guitars layered by synthesizers; sneering vocals and a cacophony of drums that make you want to trash your living room just to join in. It's a powerful return to the roots of post-punk, with enough musical innovation to create a sound that's very much lodged in the present.

With the band having already been featured on Artrocker Magazine (online) and The Best In British Music Show With Tara O, the physical release of their debut album on 30th May via EyeSeeSound is sure to cause quite the explosion.

If you can't see the waveform for single and album track Fragile Mansions below, check it out on the ABoF SoundCloud page, where you can also download it for free.

What Would Jesus Drive release their new EP - Fragile Mansions.

Posted Tue, 08 Feb 2011

Hot on the heels of Your Awful Kids, electro indie rockers What Would Jesus Drive are kicking off 2011 with another rip roaring EP - Fragile Mansions.

Never ones to tamper with a winning formula, these four tracks maintain the band's down to earth, gritty, lo-fi approach to song writing with satirically barbed lyrics slathered all over the top for good measure.

Having played along side bands such as Dirty Pretty Things and The Drums, as well as being one of the favourites on the Introducing stage at Radio One's Big Weekend, they're now set to make a dent in the festival circuit in 2011 as well as undertaking a UK and European tour in support of the EP and laying groundwork for the release of their debut album, Black and Blue, in March 2011.

In a period where the least exciting elements of the 1980s seem to be "en vogue", Fragile Mansions reminds the listener where the soul of a lost punk generation lies - simple guitars without ego, choppy verses, razor sharp lyrics and anthemic choruses. It's custom made for shouting at the top of your voice while pogoing around like a maniac.

Fragile Mansions will be available on CD from the EyeSeeSound website and digitally from Amazon and iTunes. You can also download the EP absolutely free from the band's Official Website.

If you can't see the video for Fragile Mansions below, you can view it directly on What Would Jesus Drive's YouTube page.

What Would Jesus Drive EP Review in Buzzin Music!

Posted Tue, 07 Sep 2010

What Would Jesus Drive release their EP The Girls Are In Charge through EyeSeeSound on 4th October and have started to receive big licks already!

The online music website, Buzzin Music, have given the up and coming release an excellent review on their pages.

"What Would Jesus Drive are fresh, addictive and very 2010. Their ordered chaotic lo-fi fusion sound of electro funk and white garage punk is a welcome distraction in these days of over-produced, save, flat ringtone-friendly music." - Buzzin Music

Having joined forces with EyeSeeSound, the release of the EP will mark the beginning of a busy few months. Together, they will release The Girls Are In Charge EP, a physical version of their debut album Black and Blue and not to mention plenty of free downloads and singles taking them into 2011. The Girls Are In Charge EP is the start of an exciting quest to take the UK scene by storm.
