Saturday Night Gym Club return with ‘The Nowhere Team’ EP!

“...beautifully crafted electro-pop...” - Mix Mag
“...lush” - The Line Of Best Fit
"A warmth that's hard to achieve..." - BBC introducing
With their acclaimed debut EP How To Build A Life Raft gaining attention from Mix Mag, The Line of Best Fit and pioneering producer Skream, as well as providing the soundtrack to a TV advertisement campaign, Saturday Night Gym Club return with their second EP The Nowhere Team, to be release on 10th June 2013.
Consisting of Alan Sanderson (vocals, beats/sampler), Conor O’Kane (vocals, piano/synths), Nick Crowe (vocals, bass) and Tom Bounford (violin, synths), SNGC came under the spotlight back in 2011. Having been picked up by BBC Introducing, the band played their second gig at Radio One’s Big Weekend and were featured by Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens, exposing the Anglo-Irish quartet’s sound to the world.
EP track 'The Nowhere Team' is available to stream and download free from the ABoF Soundcloud page.
The video for the EP track 'Terra Firma' is available to watch via SNGC's YouTube channel.
The Nowhere Team brings greater scope and soulfulness to what has already become an unmistakable signature sound. Fans of M83 and Foals will fall in love with the dream-pop inflections of ‘Honesty’ and ‘The Nowhere Team’. More atmospheric tracks like ‘Suddenly The Feelings Are Ours’ and ‘Terra Firma’ nod to the influence of artists like Apparat demonstrating the bands ability to hold introspective moments with ebbing, interwoven vocals. The band self-produced The Nowhere Team, venturing to factories, train stations and building sites to record and explore a new depth of sound. Combining this with their trademark textures and creative use of guest vocalists they carefully built up layers that they describe as "an electric blanket for the soul".
With How To Build A Life Raft firmly setting Saturday Night Club as game changers, The Nowhere Team is sure to make 2013 their defining year.

Hello February!

After a very hard working January, scurrying behind the scenes and setting up lots of lovely new bands, we’re happy to say hello to February. We had a fantastic 2011 with ABoF being featured in several magazines (NME and Live UK), plus our bands did terrifically well, hitting all major magazines and websites last year.
So here’s a little rundown of what’s been going down here at ABoF towers since the start of the year and what’s coming up in the next month or two! If you make it to the end, there are lots of free tracks to download and stream in this newsletter, if you've any questions about anything you read here, please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and remember to keep checking our official website for all the latest news!
HP and Last.fm presents David Guetta
A few weeks ago, the culmination of many months of hard work and planning with Last.fm finally happened - David Guetta and 2ManyDJs DJ-ed exclusively for HP and Last.fm at The Rose Club - an event for HP and Last.fm’s media partners.
The club was packed, there were lots of happy faces and the music was terrific. This was the largest event we’ve had to organise and manage since we started and we’ve promted our fair share of events in the past (sold out shows with Hell Is For Heroes and Jeffrey Lewis to name but a few).
Super photographer Lee Allen was on the scene to capture the good vibes on the night, as you can see, we all had a great time!

Introducing… Saturday Night Gym Club

Saturday Night Gym Club begin 2012 with the release of their debut EP How To Build A Life Raft. This 6-track EP is the perfect introduction to the band's well-crafted electro sound. The EP starts on an ambient note with "I Know ft. Ellie Walker". The smooth soundscape created by the SNGC boys is akin to the sound M83 created on their album Saturdays = Youth. However, this track is a mere taster of what’s to come as the EP quickly changes pace. "A Green Light" and EP title track "How to Build a Life Raft" showcase the band’s ear for a well-rounded upbeat electro inspired tune, not dissimilar to bands like Crystal Castles and Ladytron. By the end of the EP, the band slowly bring the listener down with their less "dancey" influences taking a backseat. "Lituya Bay" is a gorgeous layering of strings and piano, with their signature electro beats introducing themselves only in the last few minutes of the track. Think Olafur Arnalds performing at a dinner party, gate crashed by Aphex Twin - beauty and the beats!
Alan Sanderson (vocals, beats / sampler), Conor O’Kane (vocals, keys, guitar), Nick Crowe (vocals / bass) and Tom Bounford (violin / synths) all met at University whilst studying science. This half English, half Irish quartet quickly bonded over their mutual obsession with sound, something that helped to overcome their initial misunderstanding for each other’s musical styles. And so these four science students formed Saturday Night Gym Club. The band self-produce all of their material, sending parts of the music via email, threading it together to concoct dreamy textures that swell and glitch, something that they describe as "an electric blanket for the soul".
You can listen to EP title track, How To Build A Life Raft, on our Soundcloud page.
