The Son(s) are a beautifully enigmatic band who produce intimate songs that seduce your thoughts with rich honeyed vocals and delicately picked guitars. - Glasgow PodcArt

Not much was known about this elusive new band, but what we did know is that The Son(s) were set to take the UK by storm this year with their self-titled debut album, released via Olive Grove on 7th March 2011. It's hot on the heels of their latest single, Radar, that was released 17th January 2011 and heralded the last remaining son's return, with a teaser taste of new material dripping with silky textured vocals and a guitar sound infused with Americana.

Preferring to maintain their anonymity, this is as much as we can tell you about their origins:

The Son(s) were three men in a band, in Edinburgh.
One Son went to London, and made his fortune in the movies.
Another Son went to Oxford and lives in a small commune there.
The last Son eventually went back to the North East of Scotland and wrote and recorded these songs.

The album is nothing short of a masterpiece. The Son(s) unique storytelling ability runs strong throughout all eleven tracks. The listener is taken to small weather beaten towns on harsh winter nights, kept warm beside dark fireplaces whilst young girls experiment with the occult, and meander down dark and twisting midnight highways, the remaining son's hand clasped firmly round their wrist. All of these songs are strong enough to stand on their own two feet, but together they create an album that begs to be heard. It possesses a cinematic quality set to inspire the minds of artists and listeners alike, combining elements of Iron & Wine and Grizzly Bear with a liberal helping of The Beach Boys. With a debut album this strong, it would come as no surprise to hear any of these tracks featured on a major motion picture soundtrack.
